Thomas Haney

Thomas was raised in Austin, Texas, and headed out west at 18.  Over the next 10 years he lived in Arizona, New Mexico, Oregon, and Idaho, and has worked as a carpenter, salmon gilnetter, and wild land firefighter.  Currently he works summers as a Smokejumper in Montana, and lives the rest of the year on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.  
         He began learning photography at age 15, and has practiced it to varying degrees of intensity ever since.  In the past few years he’s won awards in many of the largest wildlife photography competitions in the world, including the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Windland Smith Rice International, Memorial Maria Luisa, Sony World Open, and others, and one of his images is currently on display in the Smithsonian Natural History Museum in Washington, D.C.
