Rickale West also known as Roxy Wuz Here, has a life long mission of mental health awareness and now healing through art. Rickale West studied Psychology and Child and Family Development at Texas Southern University in Houston Texas. Roxy has always been artistically inclined and her passion for arts, children and mental healing has always been present and it shows through her original one of a kind artworks. Roxy Wuz Here Art original artworks are geared towards mental health awareness, art healing and an illustration of life experiences that others may resonate with. Since the beginning of her artistic practice, the initiative has been to spread healing through art and encourage others to use art healing as a tool as well.
Roxy Wuz Here artworks are created using mixed media including acrylics, Fluid acrylics, aerosols, oil pastels, etc. These media aid in creating a standout textured appeal which helps the intentional works of art pop.
Roxy Wuz Here artworks have been included in various exhibits and meaningful initiatives that aid in her mission to bring awareness to connection between mental wellness and art. Those initiatives include the ‘Thin Line’ exhibit juried by Kelley Mathews at the Art Center Highland Park, Highland Park Illinois. Also, an installation of her “Overcoming” project at the art therapy studio of Therapy by Angela, located in Houston Texas. She has also had work geared toward mental wellness included in the Texas Southern University Museum and Museum of Fine Arts Houston City Wide African American Artist 25th Anniversary Exhibit.
