Rinus Hofman
Hofman was born and raised in The Hague. After his studies and graphic work, he focused completely on contemporary art. Due to the intensive painting technique and drying times of the oil paint, the collection is not ample, and limited to small exhibitions that are currently housed in the Netherlands.
The work of Rinus Hofman is characterized by pasty oil paint layers. Up close you see small paintings, vistas and abstract shapes with their own visual language. The rhythmic, abstract, lines, shapes and surfaces make the viewer curious from a distance. Hofman likes to go for the big work, but also looks for depth in the smaller formats that are currently very popular.
“I see the making of abstract paintings in oil paint as music. It is composing with shapes and colors and always looking for balance. Each painting is a new challenge, a search in which my thoughts and expression are expressed.”
