I won my first art competition when I was 7. My elementary school challenged all the students to draw a picture that represented our school for a t shirt design. I drew a picture of a stick figure boy and a stick figure girl smiling and kicking a ball. I think I originally had 5 balls in the picture and edited it down to one when I realized two people didn’t need 5 balls.
I picked up small, detailed style illustration while working as a nail artist in San Francisco. I started doing typography because “words of affirmation” is one of my love languages. I picked up mandala-style and zentangle because I could meditated between the lines. I like nonconventional canvases as much as I like paper and pen as much as a paint brush.
