Bill Jackson was featured in Doodlewash!

Sep 05, 2016

Congratulations to our artist, Bill Jackson, as he was recently featured as a guest artist in the Doodlewash website!

Doodlewash is a place where artists go to inspire and motivate each other.  The featured article about Bill Jackson takes you through his journey to become a watercolor artist.  From his early dreams of being a movie star, through the “disco era” where he was a fashion design student at Parson’s School of Design, to present day where he is a licensed artist.

Bill says: “These days, I vacillate between ‘fine art’ and painting for textiles. I also create images for Home Décor… For these images, I combine hand painted motifs with digital patterning techniques I picked up over my years in the textile industry. When time allows, I like to paint in a series.”

Bon Voyage, Nolan!

Jun 22, 2016

Bon Voyage…arrivederci…ciao…au revoir, sayonara… however you want to say it, as long as it is not “goodbye.”

On Friday, June 17, our team had a bittersweet day. It was Nolan’s last day working with us in Vermont. He will be moving to Austria at the end of this month, but he will continue to remain part of the Art Licensing Team. He will be working remotely and will still be an active part of our Art Department.

To celebrate his time with us, we snuck out of the office early to have a family style BBQ at Matt’s house. The PPC (Party Planning Committee) decorated the house with American and Austrian Flags as well as some funny photos of Nolan and the team.

We enjoyed some delicious food, a “Choco-licious” cake (Nolan’s favorite) and some fun in the sun (playing with Matt’s children on their playground). We all had a relaxing and enjoyable time visiting and reminiscing about some of our work adventures.

We are so lucky to be part of such a caring and loving work family. We know we will have a lot more memories with our new International Project Liaison. To see all of the photos from our party, check out our Facebook album.

Art Licensing: A Top Global Licensor

Jun 03, 2015

Art Licensing International is very excited to announce that we are among the top Global Licensors featured in this month’s edition of the “License Global” Magazine. Each year, there is a special report that ranks licensors based on the annual retail sales of licensed merchandise and provides sales data and trends for a wide spectrum of the world's most popular and recognizable brands. The top five global licensors include distinguished names like Disney and Mattel.

This year, the Top 150 Global Licensors made up $259 billion in retail sales of licensed merchandise worldwide. This report accurately illustrates the growth and importance of art and brand licensing to consumers and retailers worldwide. “License Global” continued the top ranking list for an additional 6 companies and Art Licensing International was ranked number 154, with Scholastic being number 152! Art Licensing is excited about our honorable mention in this article and hope that next year we will be in the top 150 licensors.

2015 Atlanta Gift Show

Jan 15, 2015

During a “quick trip” to Atlanta, some of our Sales team managed to get in 28,600 steps (approximately 12 miles) in just 2.5 days!  With more than seven million square feet of enclosed space, the Atlanta Gift show ranks first as the world’s largest trade mart/trade show facility. It is the nation’s leading gift, home furnishings, apparel, and area rug marketplace. At the Atlanta Gift Show, you will find more product than anywhere else! With the latest designs on every floor of every building, it helped us to learn what kind of art manufacturers & retailers are looking for.

We (Courtney and Syrena) did not waste any time and tried to fit in as much of the show as possible! We had back-to-back (to back) appointments with many eager customers. With over 400 artists to present, we could meet for hours!  Courtney and I made sure to set aside some time to “walk the show.” Walking the show can be draining and it is incredibly easy to get distracted (and overwhelmed) because there are floor to ceiling glass windows of the showrooms, which allows you to see a remarkable amount of products as you walk down hallway after hallway. Plus, you never know who you will see (or run into) at the show. This year we got to meet Paula Deen! It was a lot of fun and she was incredibly kind.

(Syrena and Courtney with Paula Deen)

One of our favorite parts about our meetings/walking the show is seeing our images on finished products.  Here are some pictures of the products we saw at the show.

(Coasters by Color Bakery)

(Anderson Design Group Pillows)

(Art Licensing Studio Tabletop)

(Celebrate Life Gallery Wooden Wall Decor)

To see the entire album, take a look at our Atlanta Gift Show 2015 album on Facebook.

Our meetings went really great and as a result we have been busy little bees sending follow up e-mails with the art selections (as well as BRAND NEW art that has arrived). We hope the meetings turn into lots of successful new programs!

Val Bochov’s art featured in CNN Money!

Dec 10, 2014

Our artist, Val Bochov, has recently had the honor of working with CNN Money!  He did a series of 8 images inspired by futuristic transportation methods to go in an article titled: “The Travel of Tomorrow.”

The staff at CNN Money enjoy working with Val because he is creative, inventive, diverse, accommodating and very fast!  As they require multiple illustrations in a short period of time, Val is among a select few who can produce top-quality work in a short time without sacrificing the final product.

In addition to being a talented visual artist, Val is also an Award Winning Novelist. He has been honored with the highest literary prize given in his native country, Russia!

The ALI Team makes a "Stand" towards a Healthy Lifestyle!

Dec 23, 2013

The Art Licensing team is working towards living a healthier lifestyle here in Vermont. Ok, so we might be a far stretch from George Costanza’s “desk bed,” but we still felt so “BLAH” while sitting down all day (if you haven’t seen that episode of Seinfeld, you should watch this clip).  Sitting down at a desk for 40+ hours a week can cause many issues with your body including (but not limited to) your heart, your hips, your spine, and even your shoulders!

Our CEO, Jack Appelman, heard our requests for option to stand up, so he ordered us some Varidesks. These stand up desks are an excellent way for us to stay energized and engaged with co-workers. The best part about these desks is the option to move it down to a “regular” desk when we do not want to stand. Aside from the numerous physical benefits we here at Art Licensing International have already found after using the stand up desk, we have also found the desk to be a great way to get our blood and creative juices flowing.
