Get Unreal with Sheena Pike!

Sep 25, 2017

For Canadian illustrator Sheena Pike, there was just something rather uninspiring about drawing realism and, after years of chasing perfection with her pencils, she eventually lost interest in drawing altogether.

Turning to graphic design as an alternative creative outlet, Sheena switched gears and took a hiatus from drawing. However, the universe had other plans for her future as an artist and there eventually came a day when Sheena once again found a pencil in her hand.

With a fresh perspective and a dream of achieving commercial success, Sheena began to rediscover and reinterpret her imagination, experiencing her creativity in new and exciting ways.

“When I began envisioning my drawings as products, the possibilities, the ideas, and my ambitions were endless. I began enjoying my work significantly more, and it greatly reflected in my creativity.”

Inspired by many things, Sheena enjoys exploring the beautiful, imaginative world of pop surrealism by combining realistic and illustrative styles. Whimsy and otherworldly, her work often evokes an intensity, giving you a glimpse into her creative mind and the way she sees the world.

Sheena Pike was featured in Colored Pencil Magazine’s Winter 2015 issue, as well as a 2016 article highlighting her mixed media techniques. Check out the latest issue of Colored Pencil Magazine to read more about Sheena and her journey to becoming the stunningly talented artist she is today!

2017 Atlanta Gift Show

Jan 23, 2017

Russ and Syrena recently traveled to the Atlanta Gift Show at AmericasMart in Atlanta, GA.

They left ALI Headquarters very, very early (3:20am) to go to the airport. It was a crisp winter morning (-4 degrees) with a beautiful full moon!

Once they arrived at the airport, they quickly checked their bags, hopped through security, and got on the plane.

A few short hours later, they arrived in Atlanta! They hopped off the plane and headed straight to the show where they walked their first day collecting leads, looking for artist products and of course gathering trends.

It was a long first day between traveling and walking the show and ending the day with an "e-mail party" in Russ's hotel room (not as much of a party as one might think, but more of a replying frenzy)!

The next day Russ and Syrena met with clients back-to-back all day.  They even had the opportunity to meet with a few of our artists (during their lunch break- multitasking is something ALI is known for).  The team had a lot of beautiful new art to show during their meetings, so the clients were ecstatic! They saw a TON of products with art from our artists. It seemed like everytime they would turn a corner, they would spot another product contracted by Art Licensing.

(These are a few of the products spotted at the show)

While walking all over for meetings it was overwhelming how much gold was seen throughout the showrooms.  Gold accents are one of the many hot trends identified by Russ and Syrena at the show; the hallways practically glittered!  Another thing they noticed dominating the show was natural textures (i.e. wood, cork, pallets, birch bark, burlap, rocks, etc.).

After a few more busy days at the Atlanta Gift Show, Russ and Syrena hopped back on a plane and made their trek back home to Vermont.

The two had a great time in Atlanta and deemed the show a big success.

If you would like to see some of the pictures from the show please click check out the album on our Facebook page by clicking here

Dean Russo on the cleats of New England Patriots player!

Dec 05, 2016

We are so excited for our artist, Dean Russo. The one thing in the entire world he loves more than creating his colorful deigns is: dogs. This week he got to share his love for rescue dogs with the world as his art was featured on the cleats of NFL star, Logan Ryan.

The New England Patriots player approached Dean about doing a design for charity. Dean has always had a soft spot in his heart for all animals so once Dean heard the cleats would be auctioned off for rescued dogs he whipped his paint right out and began creating. Dean says: “Pit bulls are a misunderstood breed, and I’m just happy to be able to get the message about animal rescue out there.

Sunday (December 4) during week 13 of the NFL season players all from many teams wore custom cleats that reflect their commitment to the charitable cause of their choice. More than 500 players participated in the league’s My Cause, My Cleats campaign. This initiative is a culmination of 18 months of collaborative work between the NFL and players across the league.

Many players shared their custom cleats on social media platforms with the hash tag #mycausemycleats. Every cleat tells a story. Logan’s story is all about rescuing pitbulls. The proceeds of his cleats will go to The Pittie Stop Rescue, Inc. which is a nonprofit, all foster home-based, rescue. Their goal is not only to find the best home for the dogs in their care, but also the best fit for potential adopters. Their hope is to create and expand a support system for each other- for their volunteers, fosters, adopters and the rescue community

After the game, the cleats will be auctioned off and 100% of proceeds will go to the charity!
