Cora Niele featured in Surround Yourself

Jun 08, 2016

Cora Niele creates ethereal mixed media works like you’ve never seen! With her roots in botanical photography and an eye for mixing photos, she creates pieces of art that leave a lasting impression on the viewer. Her unique style has been appreciated and recognized by many personal fans as well as websites and publications.

She was recently invited to contribute to a Surround Yourself publication. Surround Yourself is a quarterly publication and website designed to stimulate one’s spirit and surroundings with amazing stories, ideas, and advice about art, decor, entertaining and lifestyle.

In this article, you can learn about how she began her journey as a photographer. The article also gives insight about her inspiration and work. Her current work ranges from atmospheric still lifes in natural light to intricate, technically sophisticated digital fusions, all based on self-shot photographic images. She is inspired by natural, organic shapes. Creating evocative images that distance us from the daily grind, for a moment, is what drives her.

Susan Barmon is featured in SeeMe Book!

Aug 25, 2015

We are excited to announce that our artist, Susan Barmon, has been selected to be part of the Black and White Collection Book that SeeMe puts out. This book, displays work from photographers representing over 191 different countries around the world!

Susan has been telling stories through photographic portraiture most of her adult life. She says:  “I like the story these little cowboys tell. Their portraits personify the lives they live and the character they are developing. “The Littlest Cowboys” has been a rewarding series. Along with the photographs, I came away from it with lifelong friends and a respect for those, of any age, who pursue the sport… “The Littlest Cowboys, captures a unique slice of Americana---a lifestyle that lives the sport. The children’s rodeo is brimming with a value system we associate with the best of our American heritage: courage, competition, physical stamina, triumph, defeat and sportsmanship.”

Net proceeds from the sales of these books will benefit the Pencils of Promise charity. This organization works to build schools in developing nations. They do not just build a school and move on, they monitor and evaluate the schools after they are constructed. Thus far, every school they’ve opened is fully operational and educating students daily!

The 2014 PhotoPlus International Conference and Expo

Nov 03, 2014

On Halloween, most of the ALI family was in VT eating yummy treats and hanging out with our trick-or-treaters (in between doing deals, of course). Joe, from our art department, spent Halloween in NYC for the PhotoPlus International Conference + Expo. This year, his treats came in the form of photography knowledge.

The PhotoPlus Conference + Expo was the perfect show for Joe to attend, as he is our resident photographer and imaging specialist. This show has become the largest photography and imaging show in North America! Over 22,000 professional photographers and enthusiasts from around the world attend this event. Attendees could choose from over 80 seminars, offering the ultimate experience in photography, filmmaking and digital imaging. Joe saw a lot of inspiring photography, filmmaking and imaging products- from image capture and color management to retouching and storage. There were even little theaters at the show that offered free 30 minute educational seminars all three days.

Joe came home with a ton of new information about photography. He is excited because he will be able to pass this knowledge onto our artists. To see photos from his journey, take a look at the PhotoPlus album on our facebook.
