Susan Barmon is featured in SeeMe Book!

Aug 25, 2015

We are excited to announce that our artist, Susan Barmon, has been selected to be part of the Black and White Collection Book that SeeMe puts out. This book, displays work from photographers representing over 191 different countries around the world!

Susan has been telling stories through photographic portraiture most of her adult life. She says:  “I like the story these little cowboys tell. Their portraits personify the lives they live and the character they are developing. “The Littlest Cowboys” has been a rewarding series. Along with the photographs, I came away from it with lifelong friends and a respect for those, of any age, who pursue the sport… “The Littlest Cowboys, captures a unique slice of Americana---a lifestyle that lives the sport. The children’s rodeo is brimming with a value system we associate with the best of our American heritage: courage, competition, physical stamina, triumph, defeat and sportsmanship.”

Net proceeds from the sales of these books will benefit the Pencils of Promise charity. This organization works to build schools in developing nations. They do not just build a school and move on, they monitor and evaluate the schools after they are constructed. Thus far, every school they’ve opened is fully operational and educating students daily!

Road Trip to Carson Industries

Aug 18, 2015

Last week, Syrena (from our sales team) hopped in the car and took a road trip to Carson Industries. She filled the Jetta with gas, grabbed a coffee (with an extra shot of espresso), turned the music up and she was off! After 9 hours of driving through the beautiful state of New York, she was finally in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She got some dinner and went to bed early because she knew the next day she would be full of meetings with the friendly team at Carson!

Carson manufactures exclusive gift and inspirational merchandise, as well as garden decor including wind chimes, outdoor decorative flags, novelty items, fashion accessories and apparel. Carson comes out with 6 new catalogs each year (gift, garden, flags, accessories, seasonal, and holiday flags). We are honored to have our artist, Jeff Hoff, featured on the cover of this year’s Flag catalog! His lovely paintings make the perfect flags for every season. You can also find flags with art from Crista Forest, Macneil Studio, and some of our other artists.

Syrena came to the meetings prepared with 2 iPads full of amazing new art from our artists. The meetings went really well and we got lots of great feedback. We are hoping to see lots of new images in their catalog next year! She also got to take a tour of their facility and got to see how some of their metal garden products come to life. After a whirlwind of meetings and a yummy lunch, it was time to hop back in the car and head home. For more information about licensing our images, contact us today!

Rod Stevens is featured in Where Women Create

Aug 05, 2015

Our artist, Roderick Stevens, was recently featured in the quarterly magazine: “Where Women Create.” This publication brings you into the creative spaces of extraordinary women throughout the country. This magazine is meant to motivate and inspire women, but each quarter they feature 1 man in the “Men who make it” section.

Roderick Stevens is an award-winning painter in multiple styles and mediums. He is a creative soul as he also dabbles in filmmaking and is an award-winning screenwriter! He has been a lover of the arts for as long as he can remember and he started painting in oils when he was just 7 years old! As adulthood and family responsibilities started to consume his life, the variety of artistic expression became relegated to occasional hobbies while he focused on filmmaking. In 2004 he started painting again! Roderick currently lives in Arizona, in a highly energy-efficient home with a 400-square-foot loft studio overlooking the living area. This allows him to balance his work and family life.

You can learn more about Roderick if you read the article featured in Where Women Create this quarter.
